My process

Define the scope
First and foremost, I do a rundown of what needs to happen and which business metrics must be met. This beginning discovery phase includes:
  • Summary of project and its primary objectives
  • Project budget and timeline
  • Definition of business goal metrics (KPIs)
  • Product deliverables
  • Potential constraints and challenges
Discover user needs
Once we have a feel for the direction we are heading in, then we map out step by step how the user will experience the digital product. The deliverables include but are not limited to:
  • Information architecture and user sitemaps
  • Userflow journeys
  • Competitive research & analysis
  • Heuristic evaluation
  • User personas & user research
Design the digital product
Next, we have the blueprint phase which gives a rough draft visual of what the design will look like. Early investments in the design process save businesses money and resources in the long run. This stage includes:
  • Lo-fidelity wireframes and sketches to determine layout
  • Medium & high-fidelity mockups to refine and establish overall look
  • Interactive prototypes that simulate real-time user experience
Testing & iteration
In an agile or scrum environment, the crucial part of this step is refining and improving designs, based on user feeback. This high-level stage includes:
  • Validating design issues
  • Usability & A/B testing
  • Determine user pain points and areas of improvement
  • Implement changes and design modifications
  • Document findings, insights and changes
  • Foster communication with stakeholders and provide future reference for future design decisions
