Step-by-step guided form for real estate sellers so that they can have the best cash deals in the Texas real estate market only from fellow Texans
Self-Directed Project
Industry: Real Estate
Timeline: 4 months
Competitor: We Buy Ugly Houses
Project Needs & Challenges
Addressing the local Texas real estate market for cash sellers and investors
- Connecting real estate highly-motivated sellers with cash buyers in hot Texas real estate markets
- Creating a more trustworthy alternative to We Buy Ugly Houses and Home Theory, Inc. by allowing sellers to only sell to fellow, local Texans
- Balance the need for comprehensive property information while keeping the form process simple and non-intimidating
The idea all started when I was attending one of Bill and Shenoah’s local REIA lectures for the real estate Texas market back in 2021.
It was one of their Big Dog’s Zoom chats recruiting future wholesalers. Though I did not become a wholesaler myself, I was inspired. The presentation they were giving was a perfect form for highly-motivated real estate sellers to fill out.
It was perfect in the sense sequence and hierarchy. However, the UX and UI design was janky and out-of-whack in terms of presentation and sense of trustworthiness. After 4 years, I finally got the opportunity to dig up the screenshots and got started…

After
📱 A mobile-first platform connecting real estate sellers to multiple cash buyers
Over 130 screens of streamlined, responsive website and app features that are empathetic for highly-motivated real estate sellers.
The overall aesthetic is inspired by TurboTax’s approachable form UI that creates a marketplace committing sellers directly to potential buyers.

🌟 The most important feature is the mobile seller form that makes the difficult process of evaluating a home’s sale price easier and more trust-worthy
The most heartbreaking part about this whole concept is the fact that most highly-motivated sellers are either facing foreclosure or are in a circumstance where they need to sell their property fast.
🫶 Empathetic onboarding process
Step-by-step guidance
A gentle tone that sets clear expectations and support for highly-motivated sellers
Selling only to local Texans
Fostering a sense of community between both the seller and the buyer
Trust-building educational illustrations
This reduces perceived risk and lowers anxiety against the sellers, who can be stereotyped as unsavory

🖼️ Utilizing photos rather than checkboxes or radio buttons
Visually-detailed evolution
People always remember images better than words with higher retention rates
Different labels to indicate whether you can select one or multiple choices
Each button is tokenized differently in the design system with labels that indicate whether the user has one or multiple choice selections

📸 Optional photo uploading feature for sellers
More accurate initial offers
Allowing sellers to upload comprehensive photos of their property results in fewer price adjustments later in the process, reducing disappointment and building trust.
Reduced in-person visits
For distressed sellers who may feel embarrassed about their property's condition or who have privacy concerns, the photo upload feature minimizes the need for multiple in-person showings.
Emotional Distance
The photo upload process gives sellers a chance to view their property more objectively by seeing it through the camera lens. This can help them make more rational decisions about offers and negotiations while still maintaining control of the process.

📅 Calendar schedule confirmation for assessment
Helping sellers take care of time-sensitive issues
Again with the easing of anxiety for highly-motivated sellers who are rushing to the market
Functionality linked with a scheduling tracking system
Linked with Calendly along with SMS confirmations for reminders and of course, a real human being to follow-up on the appointments
Added heart illustration for sympathetic touch
We as buyers and inspectors want to show our sellers that we are not just there to make a profit, but to help them in a heartbreaking event ❤️

💻 Responsive landing page features with empathetic storytelling components that attract the right kind of local Texas buyer
This includes success stories featuring homeowners who received dignity through fair cash offers.
🦸 Hero section featuring satisfied sellers
Immediate trust-building
When distressed sellers first land on the site, seeing real people who've successfully navigated the same situation creates instant credibility
Emotional connection through storytelling
Simply using marketing copy won't achieve a relatable story of homeowners who found relief. When highly-distressed sellers see others in difficult situations (foreclosure, inherited property, problems, etc.) then they immediately feel understood.
Visualization of the "After" Experience
Photos showing families relaxed after closing, moving into new homes, or expressing visible relief after resolving their housing crisis help motivated sellers envision a positive future beyond their current stressful situation.

🗂️ Visual cards in the UI design
Information chunking
Visual cards break down complex real estate information into digestible, scannable chunks rather than overwhelming text blocks.
Progressive disclosure
Cards allow for a layered information architecture where basic details are immediately visible with options to expand for more information.
Visual Hierarchy and Navigation
Cards create clear visual hierarchy on the dashboard, helping users quickly distinguish between different types of information.
📖 Power of storytelling with steps and illustrations
Visual story landing page after a 3-step introduction with icons in the hero section
This is a powerful two-step tier approach that serves different user needs and engagement levels.
Creating emotional safety through predictability
By illustrating each step of the process with both visuals and narrative elements, sellers gain a complete mental map of the journey ahead.
Building trust through transparency
Unlike traditional cash buyers who might keep parts of their process vague, the illustrated storytelling approach signals honesty and builds trust by removing all mystery from the transaction.

💬 Strategic value of testimonials and ratings are critical here for cash deals
Trust-building in a skeptical market
For highly-motivated sellers in difficult situations, skepticism is natural when considering a non-traditional selling path. Authentic testimonials from verified local sellers who've successfully completed the process serve as powerful social proof.
Risk reduction through shared experiences
Detailed testimonials that address specific concerns ("I was worried about getting lowballed" or "I needed to close within 7 days") directly mitigate the perceived risks of using the service.
Emotional reassurance
